Nafees Cap, Naughty Daddies.
By Dougald MacDonald, AAC
In August, the four-man team of Adrian Laing and Scott Standen from Australia and Bruce Dowrick and Jon Sedon from New Zealand free-climbed a variation to the route Ledgeway to Heaven (Favresse-Favresse-Pustelnik-Villanueva, 2007) on Nafees Cap, a prominent rock spire on the south side of K7. The team spent a total of nine nights on the southwest face, free-climbing about 20 pitches up to 25 (5.12); they placed two protection bolts. Laing and Sedon reached a shoulder on the south ridge of the pinnacle and joined Ledgeway to Heaven, which they followed for two pitches before concluding it was too snowy to continue to the summit. They called the route Naughty Daddies (630m, 7b).
